Student Ministry Staff
Volunteer Application

A Little Information about our Student Ministry (a very brief summary)
Our Student Ministry at FMCC focuses mostly on Middle School and High School students. We do a few things to encourage our college students. We have programs that separate MS from HS, which is our preference. However, we do combine them on some occasions such as our student worship service (the Element).
Our intent or purpose as a student ministry is to teach, equip, and encourage students to grow into a “stand with their own faith” Christ-follower. We point them to loving God and loving others as the markers Jesus gave to us.

The Role of Adult Volunteers (Staff)
The primary role of our Youth Staff is to be a small group leader / mentor. In a very practical manner the Staff member becomes the “Youth Minister” to the students in their group. You will get to know them on a personal level. You will develop relationships with the students which will allow you to ‘speak into their lives.’ This means you become involved with them beyond an hour meeting once a week. We expect a one year commitment from our Staff.
You will lead a weekly small group meeting with your students. Many times you will also host this gathering, even though other arrangements can be made. You will be expected to be prepared to either teach the assigned lesson when that applies or to teach something else.
You will also be expected to participate in youth events and activities. This may not always be possible but should be considered a priority. These events can vary. Some are local and some require time off from work. The ministry tries very hard to supplement the cost of your participation. However, there are times when there will be a cost passed on to you. We consider your involvement a ministry in the truest sense of the word. Personal sacrifices are a part of this.
Finally we expect you to be in active attendance in Sunday Worship. This can be in the church’s regular adult services or upstairs with the students at the Element. You are also expected to be in an active and growing relationship with Jesus.
